King Salmon (Chinook) are the largest of the wild alaskan salmon. All of our salmon fishing is done in the prisitine waters surrounding Gustavus which means that our salmon our usually bright chrome in color and excellent table fair. Fighting a big king salmon is sure to get the adrenaline flowing. Kings have speed, power and stamina, making it one of the most highly sought after species in Alaska.
Giant halibut, aka barn doors, like this 420 lb monster are the ultimate dream come true for many Alaska visitors. These giants of the deep don't give up without a fight and when it's over usually the fish and the angler are both whipped! Not only are halibut a great sport fish, they are excellent table fare.
Ling cod often congregagte in large schools which make for an exciting afternoon when every rod is constantly bent double. They are extremely aggressive and if they are there you will know it! This one is trying to swallow a nice sized china rockfish.
Rock fish come in a variety of colors and sizes. Some of the most popular are the yelloweye (red snapper), tiger, quillback, china and black bass. They are found around underwater rock piles, ledges and drop offs.
